Anna and Audrey

Channeling women from the past: Anna Karina and Audrey Hepburn.

First up, Danish actress, director, screenwriter and author Anna Karina. My favorite film with Karina is Une Femme est une femme (A Woman Is a Woman). It’s on Netflix instant watch, if you’re interested. Karina stared in many Jean-Luc Godard films (he was her first husband), usually wearing skirts, dresses and tights in primary colors (typical Godard). For Karina, a cigarette was often an accessory and eyeliner was a must.

Next up, British actress and fashion icon Audrey Hepburn. The late Hepburn is one of the most famous actresses of all time. She is widely known for her role in Breakfast at Tiffany’s, but my favorite is Funny Face. Hepburn influenced fashion during her time and still does today. You can find images of her printed on virtually everything — shirts, posters, coffee mugs, purses, blankets, etc. Dare I say it, she’ll never be forgotten. Not with those eyebrows.
